To the Voters of Adams County:
For more than 27 years I have served as the District Attorney’s Criminal Investigator. During this time, I have come to have an excellent working knowledge of the Circuit Court system. I am very familiar with and understand the workings of the office of Circuit Clerk. Over the past 27 years, not a week has gone by that I have not been in some Circuit Clerk’s office and/or in Circuit Court in the course of doing my job. This gives me an inside advantage. The office of the Circuit Clerk is very important in county and state government. The Circuit Clerk is charged with the safekeeping of Circuit Court, County Court, and Youth Court records. Additionally, the Office of the Circuit Clerk keeps records of marriage licenses, voter’s registration and provides passports. Because of my years in working for the District Attorney, I understand the absolute necessity in keeping and archiving court records and important documents. Of equal importance, when allowed by law, these records should be accessible to the public as well as to those in the legal community. The Circuit Clerk’s office deals with several hundred thousand dollars of taxpayers’ money each year. This is money that is held in trust for garnishments, fines and fees that should be settled to the county, state, and victims of crimes. This money must be accounted for in an accurate and honest manner. I pledge to be a good circuit clerk and a good bookkeeper. The Circuit Clerk’s office is a public office and is therefore owned by the people. As your Circuit Clerk, I will make sure that the people have access to any and all records that are kept by the Circuit Clerk unless sealed by order of the court. Cathy, Andrew, Austin and I are very involved in the activities of our church, community, and school. Over the past ten years I have coached Natchez Youth Soccer, AYA Basketball, and Dixie Youth Baseball. As you make your decision, I ask that you please consider not only my experience in the Circuit Court system, but also my commitment to family and community. I humbly and respectfully ask you, the people of Adams County, for your vote and your support. My pledge to you is that I will be a working Circuit Clerk and that I will return honesty, integrity and accountability to the Office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk. --Eddie Walker |
