Why Vote for Circuit Clerk Eddie Walker

EDDIE WALKER SEEKS SECOND TERM
AS ADAMS COUNTY’S CIRCUIT CLERK

Circuit Clerk's StaffCircuit Clerk Eddie Walker announces his bid for re-election for the office of Adams County Circuit Clerk.  “Four years ago, when I first ran, I promised you, the people of Adams County, that I would bring honesty, integrity and accountability back to the Circuit Clerk’s Office.  That promise was delivered in short order and in full measure.  As long as I serve as Circuit Clerk, that will continue.”

“It has been my pleasure to have served you for these past three and a half years.” Walker says. “I have a wonderful staff of Deputy Clerks - Eva Givens, Charlene Gibbs, Evelyn Stone, Marlis Rogers, and Harry Lee Gaylor.  Together, we have over 28 years experience in the Circuit Clerk’s Office.  We have worked hard and been very diligent in our efforts to serve the public, the legal community and the Courts.  Through effective leadership and dedication to duty, we have been successful.  All customers are treated with courtsey and efficiency as they are assisted with their needs in the Circuit Clerk’s Office.  This office belongs to the people of Adams County and we are grateful to have the opportunity to serve you.”

Since taking office as the Circuit Clerk, Walker has seen to it that the Circuit Clerk’s Office has become fully computerized and is capable of being paperless in the future when that directive is given.  All court case documents are scanned into a computer database and then the hard copy is filed.  These documents and cases are made available to the Judges, attorneys and anyone who has need of them and they can be accessed and printed at the click of a mouse.  The Circuit Clerk’s Office handles the legal business of the Circuit Court, Adams County Court and Adams County Youth Court.  In addition, a notary public service is provided at no charge.

Walker has seen to it that the Adams County Circuit Clerk’s Office is run properly within the bounds of the law.  All monies are accounted for on a daily basis, deposited into the proper bank accounts and then disbursed as prescribed by law.  In the over three and a half years that Walker has been the Circuit Clerk, all annual audits performed by the Office of State Auditor have reported that the Circuit Clerk’s Office is being operated lawfully and properly with no discrepancies found.

Walker says, “I think that the most important duty that the Circuit Clerk provides is that of Registrar of Voters.  Voting gives those people who are registered a voice and a choice in government.  Every spring I go to all of the schools here in Adams County to register those who are eligible.  Of course, we also register people to vote at the counter in the Circuit Clerk’s Office.”

Walker, as Circuit Clerk, is also charged with handling the jury needs of Circuit and County Court.  “People who are registered voters are also potential jurors.”  Walker says. ”Jury service is another very important aspect of being a registered voter.  Nowhere else in the world do citizens from all walks of life get to make legal decisions and determinations in a court of law.”

A large amount of credit Walker gives to his deputies saying, “They make the office work smoothly and efficiently.  They are constantly working hard and are very dilligent in their responsibilities and duties.   Their work load is voluminous, but they handle it, and they do it exceptionally well.  I am very fortunate to have such people working in that office.  I am very proud of them.”
